VA Hospital

I spent most of the day Monday with a friend at the VA hospital in Birmingham, trying to get them to deal with a kidney stone he had been enduring for over a week. They put him on i.v. morphine for a few hours, then sent him home after telling him basically to "pass it on your own". Great system.

However, the reason for this message is to advise you that, while he was on the morphine, someone on the hospital staff came in and asked him if "he had ever been depressed, or ever considered hurting himself or anyone else". He was fortunately lucid enough to say emphatically "NO". However, be aware that in ANY medical facility you may be asked the same thing ... and an affirmative answer would give the government (including the local police department) all the legal justification they need to confiscate all of your firearms the same day with no court order or any further evidence. And be sure all your family members are advised to NEVER give a positive answer to these questions on your behalf.
